Once there was a girl
Nay a princess, with hair in many a curl
Whose love of bread was so great
All her mamma made would get ate
Belle’s love of pink and green is how it began
that veggie colored breads were her mama’s plan.
Spinach was blended. The beets were attacked by a masher.
The kitchen looked like the work of a slasher.
Yeast, flour and veggie juice became a frothy mix.
Mama and Belle then became kneading chicks.
After a rest, a rise and nap,
Rolls were made in snap.
Before their trip to the oven would be,
We marked them with a B for Belle and me.
For the recipe for the bread go to My Food Blog. I submitted this little ditty to Yeastspotting.

And your little colored bread rolls are so sweet and look like a fun afternoon project with ms. belle.
What a fun thing to do with your daughter. And if you didn't get any stains after working with beets as food coloring, you are a better person than I am! Or just less messy.
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing colours in those breads!
ReplyDeleteThe breads are beautiful!!! A great way to sneak in veggies!
ReplyDeleteThis is a cute post. I love how your daughter gets involved. And these rolls are so fun.
ReplyDeleteAbout your last post, that is the kind of loss no one should have to endure :(! It's a loss I dread, especially around this time. My heart goes out to those who've lost a child, both in the womb and outside the womb.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful poetic post. I also love that you made each vegetable dough into it's own roll instead of a woven bread. They look scrumptious!

ReplyDeletePretty! Does the veg add flavour or just that wonderful colour?
ReplyDeleteThanks all. The recipe is available through the link. I followed that one exactly, but then made rolls instead of a braided bread.
ReplyDeleteFoodcat, it does taste veggie like but not overtly. Just slightly.
